We will take a cultural walk around the Palenqe of Benkos, off the beaten path, where you will be immersed in the Africa hidden in Colombia. We named it Black Legacy Experience, because it is definitely an essential place for our black history in Colombia. This town hosts a sort of spin off of Cartagena's history in timeline. This is not a commercial coffee tour, it is an educational experience to create awareness in the only organic specialty coffee plantation in the Monteverde area, located in the Ecological Sanctuary, a 48 hectares family project focused on conservation, sustainability, agroecology, education and culture. In a guided workshop by an expert where you will learn from the basics of ancestral agriculture, how we create our own organic fertilizers, then you will know the coffee gardens planted in the forest that surrounds the Ecological Sanctuary, the drying area, and the process that involves the specialty coffee (history, plantations, growth, development, varieties and the science of flavor to prepare a good coffee). After leaving the forest, we will enjoy a guided coffee tasting, sharpening the senses to recognize defects, attributes, aromas and flavors in different qualities of coffee. Finally, we will create an interactive demonstration of the science of flavor and all the variables that an alchemist applies in the preparation of a coffee using different infusion methods. This workshop is an experience that will expand your knowledge of the world of coffee and help you become a home barista and an informed consumer. Monteverde in Costa Rica is one of the best destinations for Birdwatching around different birds habitats. I was raised in Monteverde where I have been living all my life listening all the different bird calls all the time, that I can recognize 99% of them. My 31 years experience made me very exigent to use different birdwatching places, depending the season or weather conditions to see as many birds as possible. We'll start birdwatching at 6:00 AM, where we'll see about 30 different species of birds at an elevation of about 4,500 feet above sea level. Then we'll stop at the cafeteria for a quick Costa Rican coffee. After that, we'll move up to Curicancha Reserve where we'll walk through two different life zones including different types of forests (secondary, transitional and primary) plus open areas where we'll be able to see much more variety of birds or Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve to be at a different elevation—about 5,000 feet above sea level—where we'll see much more interesting birds, including the resplendent quetzal, guans, barbets, three-wattled bellbirds, tinamous, and so many others. Is good to know that if you repeat the tour, you must see other birds you didn't see the day before.. Typically we would see 60 to 70 different types of birds. Other things to note Bring binoculars, a bird book, hiking shoes, insect repellent, rain gear, and a hat.

Este fantastico recorrido que dura todo el dia, estaremos visitando 5 centros arqueologicos, importantes por su arquitectura y majestuosidad de sus construcciones, iniciaremos esta aventura visitando Chinchero, donde conoceremos el Centro Arqueologico y el proceso de la obtencion de lana y teñido de las mismas para los fabulosos tejidos originales de la zona. Luego nos dirigiremos a Moray, importante por la forma de sus andenes para la agricultura, seguidamente visitaremos las Minas de Sal de Maras. Aproximadamente a medio dia tendremos un almuerzo Buffet con los alimentos propios de la zona, esto antes de visitar la majestuosa arquitectura de Ollantaytambo, la ciudad Inca viviente en la actualidad. Finalmente visitaremos el Centro Arqueologico de Pisaq, importante por su ubicacion en epoca Inca. En el recorrido visitaremos 3 tiendas locales donde se ofrecen a la venta productos hechos por los mismos pobladores revalorando productos 100% naturales. Los cuales no estan obligados a comprar. Quisa podamos sentir que vamos un poco apresurados, pero solo es para poder visitar todos los lugares indicados en la descripción, siempre compartiendo información y haciendo ameno todo el viaje. Después vamos a conocer los ingredientes orgánicos que utilizaremos en nuestra receta tradicional de Oaxaca: unos de los famosos siete moles de Oaxaca y unos deliciosos tamales al estilo de nuestro valle; haremos un brindis con mezcal para iniciar la experiencia y manos a la obra. La cocina oaxaqueña esta representada mundialmente por famosos platillos que podremos preparar y así conozcas un poco más de nuestra forma de comerlos, estos platillos serán los que te llevarás en tu corazón y aprenderás a cómo hacerlo desde el principio hasta el fin. Our day starts by meeting at our office located 20 min away from Liberia downtown through the small villages of Colorado and Curubande. We count with two parking lots at our location in Curubande where you can leave your car safe while we do the hike. From Curubande we will take a 4WD for 1 km that will take us to the entrance of the waterfall trail and here is where the hike begins. The waterfall is well hidden away on the outskirts of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano . The trail is 1.3 Miles (2 Kilometers) singletrack so together it is 4 km. There are some climbing to do in elevation and some caves to go across. Later to reach the waterfall we have to swim 25 meters through a beautiful turquoise river canyon. This is a local experience that takes place where the Blanco and the Colorado rivers cross through, forming canyons and beautiful scenery which is why the water in their pools have that special turquoise tint.

As part of our experience, we will teach you how to prepare a main course from start to finish, using your own hands. You will peel, cut, and season all the ingredients in accordance with our local traditions. Each person will have the opportunity to boil, fry, or grill their food, providing you with a unique culinary experience as you taste dishes that you may not have had the chance to prepare before. The class will be conducted in both English and Spanish, accompanied by background music that harmonizes and integrates what you are learning with the cultural and historical context of the dish. At the end of our class, you will enjoy a full meal that will not only be delicious but will also become an unforgettable memory of your trip to Colombia.
